Innovative Internet presence emphasizes expertise through updated web site and MySpace.com
Mar. 11 (Fairfax, VA) – The National Pest Management Association (NPMA), today, launched a new web site at www.Pestworld.org. Providing a singular, comprehensive resource on household pests, Pestworld.org offers visitors practical pest prevention tips, news and information on pest-related health and property risks, a public service announcements media player, career information, educational and fun pest facts, a pest guide as well as an “ask a pro” feature for pest-related questions. In addition, the site also features a new contest component where users can enter to win various prizes and a special media section that includes valuable information such as expert sources, downloadable images and other resources. Whether searching for information on preventing pest infestations or looking for a pest management career, Pestworld.org presents visitors with the most up-to-date pest news.
“We sought to create an Internet resource for the public, including homeowners, the media, educators and commercial businesses that was enlightening, informative and easy-to-navigate,” said Cindy Mannes, vice president of public affairs for NPMA. “Helping the public to understand and find information on pests and pest related diseases as well as how to protect their home supports our continued mission to protect public health and property through pest management education.
One of the newest features added to Pestworld.org is its blog, which allows for technical experts to discuss their experiences and the issues related to pests, and the protection of public health and property. As the Internet continues to grow into a more dynamic and interactive community, NPMA is steadfastly committed to utilizing technology, such as its blog, to meet consumers where they are, which today is on the Web.
In addition to the launch of its revitalized Pestworld.org, NPMA has also developed its own MySpace web page, “NPMA Bugged Out.” This new media presence further supports the continued efforts of NPMA to develop an online presence that communicates with a new generation of consumers. This web page provides visitors with important pest-related information, an opportunity to take a fun, yet educational, quiz on different types of pests and allows for visitors to “friend” NPMA, building its online community.

The NPMA, a non-profit organization with more than 5,000 members, was established in 1933 and in 2008 celebrates its 75th anniversary of supporting the pest management industry’s commitment to the protection of public health, food and property.
