Modern Marvels: Rats!
Last night, NPMA expert Greg Baumann appeared on The History Channel's Modern Marvels. The topic was the love-hate relationship with rats.
Greg's appearance certainly offered some eye-opening and intriguing information on these pests. Did you know that a group of rats is called a "mischief?" How appropriate! Also, did you know that there is an Indian temple, overrun with rats, which is considered to be a sacred place. People, do in fact, go to this temple to pray with the rats who they believe to be deceased loved ones reincarnated as these rodents. Unbelievable!
The most important thing that Greg was able to address, though, was the health threats posed by rats. Rats are vectors of disease, often contaminating food, and can cause many serious illnesses and diseases in human beings. His expertise brought a terrific perspective to the show.
